The following weeks bled into each other. Physically taxing and intellectually challenging, Ashley had little time to feel. If she was not training, killing another pig or eating she was severely fatigued and ready for sleep but he still made her read the books on her dresser till she could not stay awake. She was forcefully immersed in every way. And she knew not to question or disobey his commands. It was learn to kill or be a boy toy.

Jake taught her to fight like a devil with skill.

From reading body language and environment for intent and pre-assault indicators to verbally enforcing boundaries to taking pre-emptive action and attacking first. He even taught her deceptive tactics, stealth and how to sneak up on a man and take him out. Striking with maximum power generation to vulnerable areas was a key area of training but knowing how to deal with counters was critical to success as well as being able to defend and counter when attacked.

Jake taught her how to move fast and efficiently on her feet, how to manipulate the body, to grapple standing up and throw as well as prevent being taken down. He taught her how to fight on the ground with both traditional techniques and brutal moves that would never be allowed in a competition. They also covered basic escape and evasion tactics including defeating zip ties and handcuffs, plus picking locks.

Once she learned something new it was hours of repetition, drilling the moves, then drilling them and dealing with random counters or modifiers that made things more difficult. Always, Jake pushed her to finish him. Several times he had to work hard to stop her from choking him or breaking his arm or leg. She was a quick study and desperation was driving her towards greater success every day.

She particularly took to the blade but was also getting very good at the use of the garrote and bow and arrow. Jake literally had to pull a real knife once and nicked his neck getting the blade in between his flesh and the 550 cord to prevent her from killing him when she suddenly decided to go for broke. He had not punished Ashley for her efforts, to her great dismay. He simply laughed and coughed and told her “Good one girl!”

Some nights, after she had worked particularly hard during the day, he allowed her to take down the pig with the bow and finish it with the blade. She had hit some of them as far out as 25 yards right through the heart. Ashley was actually beginning to feel quite proud of her accomplishments and the longer it went on the less fear she felt and the more she thought about killing Jake and getting the fuck up out of there.

He also taught her some basic Bush craft - making fires, use of tools for various tasks, constructing temporary shelters, gathering and purifying water, land navigation, tracking and stalking. He made her sleep outside overnight
